단편적인 이야기의 위험~

주위의 말, 분위기때문에 사람을 보기도 전에 판단하는 경우가 있다.
특히 이 강의가 열렸던 2009년이면,,, 이때 고1이니 나도 포함이 되었을 것이다.
단편적인 이야기의 위험성, 그곳의 실제 문화 관습 종교가 중요하다.

무의식에 잠재되어있는 것
책속 환경이 유럽이라, 책은 당연히 이해할 수 없는 것이야한다는 생각을 갖게되었다.

나이지리아 전통 서적을 읽으면서 자신도 책에 나올 수 있음을 알게되었다.

가정부 가족에 '가난'의 수식어를 붙여서 동정심만 존재하였는데,
가정부 가족이 바구니를 만들수 있음에 가난하다는 편견이 깨진다.

악의 없는 동정심으로 나라에 대한 편견이 존재한다.
-> 가난과 빈곤이 존재하지만 '모든' 아프리카인에게 적용되는게 아니다.


정치와 언론이 무서운 이유는 그들의 원하는 내용만 전달할 수 있느것이라 본다.
그들이 말하는 것이 단편적인 이야기다.
요즘의 정보화 사회에서 들리는 것만 듣는게 아닌 스스로 정보를 찾아 나서야 한다.

I had become convinced that books by their very nature had to have foreigners in them and had to be about things with which I could not personally identify.

So what the discovery of African writers did for me was this: It saved me from having a single story of what books are.


But there are other stories that are not about catastrophe, and it is very important, it is just as important, to talk about them.

I've always felt that it is impossible to engage properly with a place or a person without engaging with all of the stories of that place and that person.
